Three Lighting Scenarios

Neighborhood Nature is a permanent lighting exhibition proposal for the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. This project recontextualizes the pond exhibit in the Neighborhood Nature exhibition area, inspired by Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, particularly the movie Ponyo, which tells the story of the friendship between a little magical fish and a six-year-old boy while using vibrant colors and lighting. This project creates three different lighting scenarios that tell the story of Ponyo.

This project was a collaborative effort among Samantha Kugler, Bhawika Mishra, Cecilia Moscardo, and myself. Kugler collected images, created mood boards, and compiled a fixture schedule, Mishra created initial sketches and drawings, Moscardo established the overarching conceptual narrative and organized the presentation. My role was to direct the creative process of the team, creating rendered drawings, perspectives, and overall calculations.
