Mustafa Yigit Ecer moved to Brooklyn in 2014 and earned his undergraduate degree in Interior Design with a minor in Performance Studies from Pratt Institute. Later, he earned his graduate degree in Exhibition and Experience Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2020. Before that, he took numerous academic and design courses abroad in the United Kingdom, Italy, Turkey, and Denmark. Ecer has worked in art and design, holding positions at art galleries and residential to luxury retail design firms.
He has been granted many awards and scholarship throughout his academic journey, including the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums Bruce Craig Fellowship and the Fashion Institute of Technology Student Grant in 2020, the Society for Experiential Graphic Designs Promising Student Scholarship in 2019, Teen Vogue Branding and Visual Merchandising Competition Award in 2019, and Pratt Institute Academic Excellence Award in 2018. Additionally, he has been trained in classical music, holding certifications from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music in Classical Piano and Practical Musicianship, which he thinks adds to his design sensibility.
“I am a conceptual thinker who molds spatial ideas into reality,” writes Ecer of himself. “I am an internationally trained designer, an innovative creator, a hands-on builder, and a conceptual thinker. Being a true perfectionist, I love working hands-on and do not hesitate to get my hands dirty for the completion of a task.
