THE BIG “E” OF “EDUCATE AND ELEVATE”

LOGO

Education is essential in EDPA’s DNA. As an organization, EDPA educates its members on how to connect, grow, and elevate their experience in the business. In this particular setting, the technique EDPA will use to express their values will be via languages. Language is ubiquitous and is essential to a human being, and it shapes our methods of conceiving the world around us.

CONCEPT MAP

As a bilingual person, it is conspicuous that a human brain works differently in a different language. Especially in Euroshop, this is imperative, because there are participants from all around the globe. Euroshop published their manuals for the upcoming participants in five different languages, which declares how critical it is for them to be inclusive for all. In this case, EDPA educates the members and elevates their experience in the field by bringing them together through languages.

MOOD BOARD

Augmented reality plays a huge part in the concept, by not only igniting conversations among the attendees, but also by translating their core values in hundreds of languages.

SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT

Four key points came out of the initial mind map and mood board: architecture, education, connection, and multilingual. There is one key element that binds all of these: language. Language is the first thing we get educated on to connect with others. That is why my initial sketches show a big gestural letter E.

EXPERIENTIAL SEQUENCE

TYPEFACES

After the first intercourse, the visitors walk towards the big E. The monumental letter is covered with LED panels that show an animation.

INITIAL APPROACH

PATTERN ACTIVATION

Whenever the visitors see these patterns, they would understand that all of them are supported by augmented reality. One can use the app “Zappar” to see which languages the words are written in, and can select one of the languages on the screen. That automatically blocks out the words that are not written in the chosen language. This interaction takes the whole idea of education and brings it back into essential linguistic learning experience.

BRAND RECOGNITION

COLOR PALETTE

When the visitors finally get in, they run into a bar with high-end finishes such as marble with gold veins, brass, and a rich walnut. There is also a huge screen, similar to the one on the facade. It shows the slogan of the spaces. The bar serves wine from all over the world, labeled with the slogan. The labels are in different languages that indicate the origin of the wine. For instance, Salwey Spätburgunder Trocken 2014 is served in the bottle that carries the German tag “Erziehen & Erheben,” which means “Educate & Elevate.” The Namibian Kristall Kellerei wine is served in the bottle that carries the label “Opvoed & Verhef” in Afrikaans.

WINE FROM THE GLOBE

After getting their wine, the visitors can mingle with each other. The privacy levels on some of the tables could be adjusted by the panels that come out of them. The screens also carry the three big sponsors’ names. The tables are all hung from the ceiling, because they represent the elevation of the visitors’ experiences.
