This residential project was influenced by the family heritage which is a Persian rug ripped on the edge. The idea of fixing it with metal ropes and celebrating the broken part later transformed into the main inspiration for the project. The strong geometry and muted color palette ignites on the stairs, which are made out of stained glass treads. The colors reflect on the rest of the interior, and enhances the idea of ignition.
The family owns a northwest Iranian kilim carpet, hand flat weaved (vertical slit weave) in two colors of wool, made in the 20th century. It is, however, ripped on the corner. This idea of ripping on one corner later came back on the project.
The members of the family live individual lives. They all wake up in separate times, go to work and come back separately, and they have their own group of friends. They come together only once a week, which times back to the idea of igniting at one point.
